Foreign students' enrolling in a full programme

Foreign students’ enrolling in a Degree (undergraduate students)

If the foreign student belongs to a Country outside the European Union and does not live in Italy, the application should be sent to Italian Embassy or Consulate in his/her Country.

To enrol in the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, foreign student must be completed Upper High School, obtained a Diploma and attended schools for at least 12 years.

Every year the Ministry of Foreign Affairs determines the deadlines for submitting applications.

Together with the application form, the student must enclose:

  • the upper High School Diploma accompanied by a certified translation in Italian and declaration of value (traduzione giurata e dichiarazione di valore)
  • two photos
  • Identity Card with certified translation in Italian
  • any certificate which states the knowledge of the Italian Language

The Embassy will deliver the complete documentation to the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
At the very beginning of September, the University organises an Italian Language test to determine the students' knowledge of the Italian Language.

If the student is an EU citizen (no matter where he/she lives), or a non EU citizen legally domiciled in Italy or an Italian citizen with an educational qualification taken abroad, he/she can hand the documents directly to the Students’ Secretary of the Department (Segreteria Studenti, via dell’Universitą 4 – 41121 Modena).

All the documents written in a foreign language must be given in with a certified translation in Italian, recognised by the Italian Embassy or Consolate, along with a "declaration of value".

The First Level Degrees have close number.

Foreign students’ enrolling in a Master Degree (graduate students)

If the graduate foreign student belongs to a Country outside the European Union and does not live in Italy, the application should be sent to Italian Embassy or Consulate in his/her Country.

To enrol in a Master Course offered by the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, foreign student must have been awarded a Degree or a comparable qualification from an Institute of Higher Education.

Every year the Ministry of Foreign Affairs determines the deadlines for submitting applications.

Together with the application form, the student must enclose:

  • the upper High School Diploma accompanied by a certified translation in Italian and a declaration of value (traduzione giurata e dichiarazione di valore)
  • the Degree Certificate accompanied by a certified translation in Italian with a declaration of value (traduzione giurata e dichiarazione di valore)
  • two photos
  • Identity Card with certified translation in Italian
  • the student career
  • the abstract of the courses, translated in Italian  (they have to be produced without the official Italian translation)
  • any certificate which states the knowledge of the Italian Language
